The Call for Abstracts for ICES Annual Science Conference 2025 which will be held from the 15-18 September in Lithuania, is now open and we are excited to announce that the Marine SABRES and MARBEFES projects will hold a co-convened a thematic session as part of this year's proceedings entitled 'Marine Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for a Sustainable Future'.
As part of this session, our partners (Thematic Session Q), will address a critical question for marine environmental management, “how to protect and maintain the natural structure and function of marine ecosystems that lead to ecosystem services and deliver societal goods and benefits sustainably”? They will further explore Social Ecological Systems, Ecosystem Based Management, and the tools available to identify and navigate the trade-offs and conflicts involved in achieving conservation and restoration targets. It will also focus on the equity of existing, and proposed new, interventions and measures.
We are also excited to see that this year, the conference is hosted by Klaipeda University, Lithuania., who are also partners in both Marine SABRES and MARBEFES!
The call for abstracts is now open and submissions can be made via the ICES 2025 abstract submission portal until the 17th March 2025.
